What I'm reading

Hey guys,

I just finished reading "Still Alice" by Lisa Genova. It is the story about a Harvard professor who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimers is widespread here although from what I seehear it is not as common in India. Scientific papers (I've read) show our curry powder, esp. turmeric helps fight Alzheimers. Anyway it was a good read. I would recommend it.

It struck a chord in me because my maternal grandma who's in her 80's is doing somethings similar to that of the main character in the book. But her family won't get her checked for it because they firmly believe it is her age. Maybe I am just paraonid.

Anyway, read it and we can discuss if you like.

I have been paranoid about getting it - getting too forgetful :)
There was this Malayalam movie on Alzheimer's starring Mohanlal called Tanmatra (molecule). Worth watching.

There are days when I walk in a hurry to the living room from the kitchen and forget what I came for. It is about 4 feet away!

I walk from the kitchen to the fridge, and almost always forget what I went to it for! I have to return to the kitchen to remember what it was for... I remind hubby not to talk to me while I am going to the fridge again. That is just one trait. Many more.... Glad to know Ihave company

Goodness... this is quite scary, like how Maha said eating more curry could be the best bet...Indians are way ahead..

I get out of my office, climb down three floors (no lift) only to forget my errands. Oh yeah! Do all the fridge stuff with unfailing regularity. I think we need a curry leaves estate - just for our group.

This must be an old age symptom then :) and partly stress too.

Guys can we change the topic?? This sounds like a Alzheimer's Forum!!!

No no Miller. An alzheimer's forum would sound very depressing. I like Rajeev's idea of us investing as a group in a curry plantatiion. But I think we need the turmeric more. :)

Certainly turmeric. Step 1: Sign up for a crash course in organic farming - if not a degree in agriculture.

yeah! and step 2: Good luck finding enough space in or around chennai, and water to cultivate anything.

By next year we would have completed the desalination plant in Chennai which will be up and running so water is not a problem...Life is a cycle where farming will become the latest fashion soon....see the response for Farmville in Facebook!!!

How does this Farmville thing work, Miller? Is it of any use? I am just about learning the ropes of FB.

Farmville is a game which many people get addicted to...it is a game where you have a plot of land and then start cultivation as you progress you get points using which you can add infrastructure..like building a fence, buying a tractor, or a harvestor...you can also work in other peoples land like cleaning their farm and get more points... by paying cash also you can get points to buy things.... I know people who are so addicted that they keep alarm and get up in the middle of the night to harvest the farm..
