Murder in the convent

Something has been bothering me for the past one month. No, not my son's eczema or my BP problem. It is the CBI investigation and arrest of three accused in the Sr. Abhaya murder case. Some of you must have heard about it from TV news.
Some other nuns in Kerala have died under mysterious circumstances after Abhaya's death in 1992. But I somehow strongly feel for her case. Probably because she must have been my age when she was killed. She was 21 in 1992 and she was a Plus Two student (nuns usually start college a few years later than the rest of us; I had a few nun classmates in my Pre Degree and BA classes). And she had got up early in the morning setting the alarm to wake up at 4 am. And she had gone down to the kitchen to get some water. There she saw something she shouldnt have and paid for it with her life.
I have provided the link to an article I edited for our last issue. It had made me go through the trauma of the case - powerful, invisible hands had tried to snuff the case out and pass it off as suicide. I hope the truth will come out and the culprits punished though much of the evidence has been destroyed. I hope her soul will rest in peace then.

All's quiet on the Northern front

Well, it was a quiet night and I got to reading some of our old blog posts. We have gone down the memory lane and captured a lot of our past. Well done guys.

One of our blogs mentions Vinodini and Rosh says "the less said about it the better." You know when I went for my first visit to India I heard some wierd things too. I wouldn't bring it up if my name hadn't been dragged into it.

Someone was calling the MCC department or Thomas hall or something and telling them they were me. The person was not only impersonating me, but also crying that she (I) was being abused by her (my) hubby. That complicates things as YAK was also a department guy. I think somehow our department staff (probably prof. Rajani) figured out it was V making these calls. I didn't hear more about it again. I hope she is okay wherever she is.

What surprises me though is the reason she would pick me to impersonate. We hardly knew each other.

Obit Prof Gladson

Heard that our former Principal and head of the Zoology dept. Dr. Gladston passed away. I could not find any news of the death online. My mum said she heard there was a service at MCC and that his body was taken to Nagercoil for burial. He had lost his older son earlier on.
I could not get any new of it on the MCC website. And since none of you mentioned it, wondered if it's true?
Have any of you heard about it? Hello news personalities, busy?
May God be with his family. Too many sad news.
May he rest in peace. Another good person to be with God.

Professor from India visiting Canada

Professor Venkatachalam and his wife visited Canada. He works for the Agricultural college (assistant Dean!) of Coimbatore. We had them over for a dinner as he was also a good friend of Prof. Balusamy at MCC Tamil department. The latter is a good friend of YAK.

Grief

Thought would share our grief with you all, for some reason, i think when we were studying u all admired my cousin in Chicago's photos. Reena was just 5-yrs older to me. She was diagnosed with ALS a couple of years ago and was given 1 year of life. she lived 2!. Deteriorated fast ,lost voice then slowly everything else., was on feeding tubes, oxygen. now no more. she had good faith. was always kind and helpful, compassionate.. looks like such people reach God early. I know many of you have lost a dear one too.
Could not sleep. Cousin's here we spoke with each other.looked at tickets to go, slept few hrs,up and about. All our parents back at India, all of us would like to be there.Keep us also in your thoughts and prayers.
Just a remembrance now, the pain is everlasting.. may become less as years go but never leaves. God be with all our dear ones who left us.May they rest in peace.
Just saw Rosh, Am chat message,Nov 1 spl . Well, these were my experience-yesterday was our oldest child's first communion, Bishop was there, morning we woke up and left to church 7 am,came home almost 3(That went off well).Guest came ,left-changed went to church at 5 for a baptism, came home 8. whole day was a very holy day- i mentioned it to few people and was really feeling at peace night 9 called our homes spoke to our parents,Bil is visiting, another wonderful feeling that God sent us someone,At10 my cousin from CA ,got a call from her mum back home . she called to say our cousin Reena who is here passed away. wanted to visit R while living. God knows what He is doing- is a feeling i Got. Reena was in church just few hrs before passing away, our aunt in Chicago they were also in church for convention they reached home to this message! Our whole fly was in church. and both after morning and evening program did not feel like leaving.
