Hi all, official- house warming.. before it was just milk warming and getting in.. now India new buildings they have bbsmt but for car parks..and some shops too.. but basement means u need to have sump pump.. we have lot of rains-then Big trouble..! yes, our old home bbsmt was our dumping ground.. yes, has 2nd kitchen for cooking Indian Food .. which makes home stink,messy with oil sticking everywhere.so do all major cooking down.all present Indian homes do this concept or in the garage they cook or outside..esp Fish..! the present one has full bath, also 1 room for some exercise machine and kept Tv there..for kids..old home washing machine etc was bbsmt.. here its on top floor with bedrooms.. sunlight is from window.. roof ones r tubelights.. economy is bad.. many people we know have no jobs..some sell as they like too/make money.. some for real need for money.. God be with everyone. hope this answers everything.. will put another post soon of function. ust
I should add to Usha'scomments that many folks rent their basement suites to students and families. They are generally cheaper to rent than a first floor or higher floors in an apartment. In many cases if you have children you are only allowed to rent the basement (or in its absence the first floor). This people no has to live below you and listen to children jump.

Sure I agree with ROSH, atleast we can dump it with all the odds and ends we religiously keep with us............AM
But Usha ur basement looks like a second kitchen? What is the purpose of having one - i mean what all do u do there? Bed/ washing machine/ oven all??
