Chennai news

The Times of India landed in Chennai yesterday. I mean there will be a Chennai edition of it from now on. The Deccan Chronicle has been here for sometime now. Subscribers for a 6-month delivery of copies were given a travel bag as free gift.
Chennai city has become billboard-free. So for a change one can see trees, which were all hidden behind giant hoardings. A Supreme Court order has made the administration take an earnest effort in clearing the city. In fact, those who have been here recently wouldnt recognise Chennai now. I cant believe that most of the hoardings in Chennai were illegal.

This is great news. I think this is a welcome change. Does Times of India pay better than Hindu???.......AM

Yeah, they take on 3 yr contract and the pay is much much higher. Glady work with TOI Hyd. The repercussions have been that we got a good pay hike too (but nowhere near to i or d c). For those looking for security, a laidback work culture and other welfare state measures, T H is still the anchor. :)
And I am reading to i first thingin the morn even before i take up the others to read :)... R
